White Pine Berry Farm | River Falls Wisconsin

White Pine Berry Farms
Standard

Fall has so many activities; apple picking, pumpkin patches, and corn mazes! White Pine Berry Farms Fall Family Days are the perfect family fall activity. They have a bouncy house, animals to feed and pet, a free hay ride, pumpkins, raspberry picking AND a corn maze!

Unfortunately, when I went with my sister and her family  it was opening weekend we weren’t able to check out the corn maze, because it was way too muddy, but we did get to check out all the other fun fall activities! Literally the best part about fall is that no one bats an eye when I ask to tag along to their family activities haha. Continue reading

Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar Dog Menu | Minneapolis

The Howe Daily Kitchen and Bar Dog Friendly
Standard

My sister texted me out of the blue to let me know that she saw that there are some places in Minneapolis with dog specific menus and that she was willing to let me rent my dog niece to take her for some bonding hahahaha. Fast forward a month later (because trying to find free time in summer is impossible) and we had the perfect girls day with my sister and both of my nieces haha.

I’ve already gushed about The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar previously so you can head over there if you’d rather read about the “people food.” Continue reading

Minnesota State Fair 2019 | Saint Paul, Minnesota

Minnesota State Fair 2019 Cheese On A Stick
Standard

I went into the Minnesota State Fair with an ambitious list of new foods and drafted my line-up of three other people willing to help; Noelle, Lisa & Tom…as you probably already guessed, we did not make it all the way through the list haha. The hard part about new fair foods is that it doesn’t take into account all of your Minnesota State Fair food staples OR the copious amount of beer you’re going to be drinking.

I think we made a valiant effort and secretly am thankful of the rain that swept in around 5pm so that we had a legitimate reason to leave with our mission incomplete.

6 hours. 11 foods. 6-ish beers. Minnesota State Fair ✓

Bad Axe Throwing | Northeast Minneapolis

Bad Axe Throwing
Standard

Being a lover of Northeast basically means you’re a lover of all things Minnesotan with hipster glasses and a little tighter pants. The Minneapolis location of Bad Axe Throwing is the perfect culmination of a Minnesotan’s love of Paul Bunyan and Northeast Minneapolis’ love of flannel.

The only thing that would make it better? Beer.

I will air my one grievance now, because honestly I had no other issues at all with my experience so it’s best to just get the negative out of the way. In multiple news reviews and even google reviews there are references to this place being a bar and that people were able to bring in their own beer and wine. This is not true. The day prior I was told that it is a “dry” facility. From asking more about it, it sounds like they are currently trying to get their liquor license to serve beer and wine on site (so there is hope), however, because a group event has a 2 week cancellation policy and knowing that other axe throwing facilities do allow drinking we were frustrated…especially as this doesn’t appear to have always been the case.

Negative portion over, let’s get to the main event.

Norseman Distillery Cocktail Room | Northeast Minneapolis

Norseman Distillery Cocktail Room
Standard

I had the opportunity to try out the new Norseman Distillery Cocktail Room a few weeks ago for a friend’s birthday.

We had a pretty large party, but were lucky to score one of the couch seating areas due to some intense creeping next to some who were getting ready to leave. Standard.

Bunny’s Bar & Grill NE | Northeast Minneapolis

Bunny's Bar and Grill NE
Standard

While Northeast does have many things, one thing that seems pretty lacking is Sports Bars. Besides Stanley’s, every other location is pretty dive or niche. So the triumphant opening of Bunny’s Bar & Grill NE was actually pretty exciting, not to mention their location in St. Louis Park has such a cult following from many of my suburb friends.

Having opened the week before Superbowl Sunday, they were not only my choice location to explain Football to our visiting British friend, but they were also my choice place to celebrate Adult Easter (seemed fitting) and continue to remain one of my favorite weekend beverage destinations.

Minnesota State Fair 2015

MN State Fair
Standard

I usually can’t decide what I love more about the Minnesota State Fair; people watching or the food.

With the last weekend of the fair starting today, I wanted to make sure you had my list of fair favorites and new must trys!

*Pro Tip: It’s important to go to the fair with friends and family who are willing to share. The goal is to try everything and that’s just not possible for your wallet or your stomach if you’re not going into it with a team mentality. Continue reading

Eaux Claires 2015 Music Festival Recap

Eaux Claires 2015
Standard

After a much needed day to recoup, it’s time to recap the Eaux Claires Music Festival.

The Eaux Claire Music Festival was the lovechild of Justin Vernon, an Eau Claire native, who goes by the moniker Bon Iver, and Aaron Dessner of The National.

“We at Eaux Claires have been driven by the idea that our festival would encourage music-genre-walls to melt away. That the barriers between the stage and the audience altered, and expression and experience put above all. We have put so much thought into who should collaborate at this festival, from musicians to actors, filmmakers to visual artists. We will all share and revel in this collision of artistic force while performing in the arms of our own Chippewa River Valley.” – Justin Vernon
