It’s a rare occasion these days for husband and I to have a Friday evening off together so when husband suggested we go check out one the new to us restaurants in our neighborhood I jumped at the chance.
Keep reading for more of our visit to Stockyards Tavern & Chophouse.
Food:

Deep-Fried Pickles: Dill seasoning & buttermilk ranch
We were both starving and husband’s favorite app is deep fried pickles so we had to give them a try. They were really good, but the breading was pretty flaky so have a fork ready to scoop out the droppings in the ranch!

Fish Fry Special: Hand-battered Haddock, fries, tartar, cole slaw
It was Friday so of course I had to have the fish fry special. Are you even from the midwest if you don’t?! Their fish fry special is available through April 3rd so I highly suggest prioritizing a visit, however, if you do miss it they do have a cod version on their standard menu. It was very good and a lot of food.
I also found it enduring that they also have a meatloaf on the menu and their burger looked really good, too.

Reuben Sandwich: Corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss & house-made 1000 island on toasted sauerkraut sourdough
Husband got the Rueben and sadly forgot he was also planning to order a cup of clam chowder…oh darn, guess we’ll have to go back.
Drinks:

Midnight Cowboy: New amsterdam vodka, owen’s nitro espresso mix & trader vic’s chocolate liqueur
They have a good beer and wine list and some fun speciality cocktails. While not exactly an espresso martini, I found this Midnight Cowboy to be delightful and it definitely hit the spot.
Atmosphere/Service:

There is a decent amount of parking, we were able to get in without a reservation and our server was very attentive and sweet.

We will be back.
